A Better DWRM

Hi Neighbors!  We’re Vicki Vellema and Steve Garetto-Barnett and we are excited to announce that we are running for the Del Webb Rancho Mirage Board of Directors in the fall.

We’re proud to be running for the two open seats and to have the opportunity to serve a community we love.  Together, we bring a strong combination of leadership, proven results, and deep commitment to making DWRM the best it can be.

As Chair of the Social Committee, Vicki was honored as DWRM’s 2024 Volunteer of the Year. Her passion for building community has brought countless events to life—from the spark of an idea to full execution.  With 38 years of senior leadership in the retail industry, managing over 150 team members and a $300 million annual budget, Vicki brings fiscal responsibility, strategic planning, and a collaborative spirit.

Currently serving as Chair of the Communications Committee and previously as Board President, Steve has a track record of getting things done. He successfully negotiated $400,000 worth of community repairs—at no cost to homeowners. These improvements included a new bocce ball court, resurfaced pickleball courts, new blinds for the Outlook Lounge, and extensive street repairs. Steve also worked closely with the City of Rancho Mirage to ensure over $10 million in Pulte construction bonds were held until all work met our community’s standards. His leadership reflects strong negotiation skills and a deep understanding of how to advocate for DWRM.
